I'm playing with Dirtyloud!! OMG!!

You guys. OMG. Dirtyloud is playing at EPR. You like, don't even know. Like, I'm really excited. Like really REALLY excited. You know why? BECAUSE I *$&#@ING LOVE THEM.

Once upon a time, I was playing a New Years show with a certain EPR resident a few years ago. Until then, I'd only ever had the uber-opener slots before the clubs were even open, so I'd never played in front of an actual crowd before. And here I was, closing a New Years show in front of a packed crowd. Everyone was going nuts. My versus partner was rather wasted, and was offering no help. My nerves were a wreck. My hands were shaking. And what did I open with? THIS.

For a while, Dirtyloud was my little secret. Their stuff was out for a bit before it actually started hitting the charts, and when it did, I was excited that people would finally KNOW these songs that I loved when I'd play them out.

They had quite a unique style. in my opinion, they are the epitome of "progressive electro." They are actually one of my biggest inspirations, because they perfectly blend heavy, driving, buzzy, glitchy electro with pretty chords that get stuck in your head. Prime example: the second half of "Trash House Music." Check out those chords, man!

I feel like all of their songs are my favorite songs. Like this one!

And this one! I mean, who doesn't love big booty bitches??

And this one, that I really like because it's *kinda* like a love song, without all the mushy parts that make me hate love songs.

And of course, their latest track to tear up the charts, "Dae Guetta."

As for freebies, you like those? I LIKE THOSE. Get "Selecta" for free right from their Soundcloud.

Want more free stuff? HOW ABOUT A WHOLE MIXX?? (FYI: there's a free download link if you view the track on their Soundcloud page!)

So if you haven't gathered already, Dirtyloud is playing at EPR, with opening support by yours truly and my buddies Girls N Boomboxes. This show will PWN.

I'm opening for Jack Beats!

When our noble leader told us that we were having Jack Beats out in the spring, at first I was in complete and utter disbelief. As the date crawled closer and closer, I started to realize how big of a deal this is. Not only are they a huge act, but their remix of “Drop the Pressure” by Project Bassline holds some special memories for me.

Remember Blake’s on Telegraph? That bar/restaurant with the dingy basement that used to house hundreds of EDM events and rock shows? You know, the birthplace of EPR? “Drop the Pressure” reminds me of that place. When EPR was first taking off in the summer of 2009, back when the sparse crowd of our closest friends transformed into an uncontrollable rager in a basement, this song was everywhere. I remember driving to Blake’s from the city, carpool or not, rain or shine, despite school or work on Thursday morning, parking waaaaaay down Durant, and walking to the place in that eerie yellow light. As I’d approach the door, I could literally feel the floor vibrating beneath my feet. I’d come in and walk down the stairs, and that song would be playing (that, or MSTRKRFT’s “Bounce”).

That was the summer I threw my first rave. That track was in my set at my very first gig EVER.

And then, at EDC in Las Vegas last summer, that song was a brief moment of clarity among the chaos. On Saturday night, the place wasn’t really that packed...until 50,000 people showed up at midnight. I was like, “Where did all these people come from?” I didn’t even know where I was, until I heard that song, and realized I was at the Neon Garden stage. I looked out at the crowd, and realized how truly massive that event was. Good times. Good times, indeed.

So, you see, folks...this is kind of a big deal for me. And you know what else is pretty cool? I get to see them perform at the Ultra Music Festival, just days before I get to open for them in San Francisco.

F&%# YES.

So. Next week at EPR (not tomorrow): Jack Beats, with opening sets by yours truly, the infamous Jays One and B33son, and sets in the side room by Kirin Rider, DRRN, Chronologix, M3RC, and D Menis. Tickets will be on sale at EPR 195 tomorrow from 9-11pm across from the ticket booth. Don’t snooze, don’t lose! This show WILL sell out. See you there! :)

Go “like” their page for a free download! DO IT. THE BASS GODS COMMAND YOU. http://www.facebook.com/jackbeatsmusic

The song in question:

Another song you probably know and love:

More badassery:

EPR/Love and how much it sucks/Songs about love and how much it sucks

Happy &%$#*!@ Valentine’s Day everyone! I’m really not very enthusiastic about this occasion. At least I didn’t get dumped just days before this awful holiday this year, unlike several years in the past! There’s an up-side to everything, I guess? Yeah, whatever. Love sucks. Boys suck. Bah humbug,

ANYWAY, tomorrow night, I’m playing at the Bloody Valentine edition of Electro Pop Rocks featuring Doorly and my friends Eric Sharp and DRRN. It's DRRN's birthday! Woo! I will probably be wearing some amount of fake blood. I’m not sure if I’m going to cover myself with the stuff, but I feel that at least a little is necessary.

There are a couple of songs that I’ve had on repeat lately. One is about love and how great it is, and the other is about how much it sucks when it goes wrong.

First up, I have Ken-C’s remix of “Love You Like A Love Song” by Selena Gomez (yes, Selena Gomez. Don’t laugh before you give it a listen).

Ken-C (who’s actually a Bay Area local who has migrated to So Cal) turns it from a sappy little Disney piece of crap that only the likes of Justin Bieber’s girlfriend would sing, into an electro rave power anthem. I dig.

Second, I have a remix of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used to Know” by some guy/guys called 4FRNT. Now. I have NO IDEA who these guys are. I can’t find anything about them anywhere. I can’t even find this song for sale or download anywhere. They have a Facebook fan page with nothing on it. Who are they?!?! This remix is SO. GOOD. I find it especially relevant because when I first heard it, I felt like I was singing Kimbra’s part with regards to the most recent asshole to break my heart. Boo hoo. Check it out:

If you know anything about 4FRNT, tell me! Comment! Post it on my Facebook! SOMETHING! Who knows, maybe they’ll show up at a future EPR if I can find these people...

So guess what, everybody? I'm playing with Cazzette this Thursday at TORQ at Ruby Skye!

I'm really surprised I haven't blogged about them yet. They broke onto the scene with some amazing remixes of songs you know and love, like Avicii's "Sweet Dreams." Amazing!

PREVIEW Avicii - Sweet Dreams (CAZZETTE meet AT NIGHT Mix) by Cazzette

Just before the new year, the Swedish duo released another Avicii remix, this time of "Levels." Check out a preview!

Update of updates!

So. I've fallen off the bandwagon. I haven't updated since November! What happened?!?!?!? Well...stuff happened. You know how it goes. So.

Since my last update, lotsa stuff happened. First off, my first Beatport release came out on Thanksgiving. My remix of Kid Wobble's "Crazy Pills" came out on Mizumo Music, and you can buy that on Beatport!

Also, I just finished a track called "Flattery." Here it is:

I'm compiling an EP that will include this track, my track "Moon," and a third track that I have yet to finish. Woo! That'll be fun.

Hopefully, I will be able to update more often with more fun stuff. Until next time...

Darth & Vader/Electro Fright Rocks w/ AC Slater!!

So once upon a time, a friend showed me this track, and I played it at my then-upcoming show at Temple. AND IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING.

I've always been a Darth & Vader fan. They broke onto the scene with a Perfect Cell remix, and established themselves as amazing producers with their remix of Freefire's "Dataloss." I heard this song EVERYWHERE for months, and I still never got tired of it ^_^

Freefire - Dataloss (Darth & Vader Remix) by Darth & Vader

Now, they're teasing us all with a *preview* or their killer remix of "Prutataa" by Afrojack and R3hab. RELEASE IT ALREADY!!!

Afrojack & R3hab - Prutataaa (Darth & Vader Remix) Official Remix [PREVIEW] by Darth & Vader

But *fortunately* I don't have to wait until they decide to release it...yunno why? BECAUSE I'M PLAYING WITH THEM TOMORROW AT ELECTRO FRIGHT ROCKS WITH AC SLATER. HA.

It'll be extra awesome because I'll be performing as my spooky alter ego, DEAD SEQUITUR. Be ready. Come in costume. Prepare to have the pants scared off of ya.

Lovevolution, New track "Moon" with free download!!!

Hey guys! Whew, yesterday was quite a day. I played at Lovevolution on the Electro Pop Rockin' Skill's float! Thanks to my EPR and Skills boys, the production was absolutely off the chain. We debuted our new LED DJ booth (that I lovingly named Bootha 3000. Well, Josh came up with the name Bootha, I added the 3000). It looked SO COOL! We had the badassest float. Not to brag. But. We did. >.<

The other crews brought it too! My friends over at Bay Area Entertainment and Pixel Porn had their first floats this year. Good job, guys!

I premiered my new track, "Moon," during my set yesterday. It was kinda epic. I think people liked it. This track has been getting a great response from friends and fans alike. Check it out! You can download it straight from the player for free!

Also, if you haven't gotten a chance to check out my Lovevolution promo mix, you definitely should. It features my remix of "Crazy Pills," as well as an intro telling you how to pronounce and spell my name! Because people keep getting it wrong! Tsk tsk. Behold:

Now, I head back into the studio. I'm really going to try to get an EP out late this year/early next year. I can do it!!

LOVEPARADELUTIONFEST WHATEVER! 2011!

SO. Guess what? I'm playing at Lovevolution. Not only am I playing at Lovevolution, but I'm playing on the main float, the Electro Pop Rockin' Skills Float!!! Not only am I playing on the main float, I'm playing on the main float with Moby, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, and Blake Jarrell.

SOFA KING COOL.

Here's the flyer!

Yaaaaaaaa!

I'm also putting the finishing touches on my Lovevolution Promo mix. I should have it done by this weekend. Speaking of this weekend, I'm playing at the Color War Day Party at the Berkeley Marina. Everybody should come. EVERYBODY.

dilemn + the clamps.

SO. I really like Dilemn. He's always been one of my favorite producers. He's dirty and gritty, just the way I like it. For his most recent release "Audio Control," he paired up with The Clamps, who I had personally not yet heard of. But alas, I am impressed! They've made a new fan. It's a 2-track EP. The title track is quite catchy and surely a dancefloor killer, but I really feel like the other track, "Got U" totally steals the show. It's dirtier. And darker. Just the way I like it.

Czech it out. Here are some previews:

Dilemn & The Clamps - Audio Control by Dilemn

Dilemn & The Clamps - Got U [Burn The Fire Records] by The Clamps

Aaaaaaaand if you really like it, peep it on Beatport.

I also cross-posted this entry to B33's blog. Twofer!

my first official release!!!

So the time has come. I shall have a remix released on an ACTUAL label! Not just your buddy's label based in his garage...an actual record label with hundreds of releases on Beatport!

DJ Denise is a good friend of mine, and I entered her remix contest back in March. Even though I didn't win, she still gave me an opportunity to remix Kid Wobble's track "Crazy Pillz." So I did it! And I just got word yesterday that she wants to release it on her label, Mizumo Music! Yay! It should be out sometime in October. Why so far???

Check out a preview here:

all that she wants (is a song title that makes you lol)

MOOMBAHTON. You know, moombahton! That hot new thing that's not dubstep? Yeah, that.

I like it. Mostly because a) it reminds me of EDC (tee hee heeee) and b) it's a hot new trend that doesn't make my ears explode like dubstep does (I guess some people like the explodey ear thing...)

ANYWAY, so this track showed up in my feed on Soundcloud, the the title literally made me laugh out loud. I present to you an Ace of Base Remix by some guy named Baan. I like it.

SPEAKING OF ACE OF BASE...I made this.
